The idea that "the rich should help the poor" is inherently left-wing. It just doesn't necessarily meet your purity test, nor do the people espousing it. | |

It has a long history of conservatism: it is well known for anti-LGBT teachings. There is a tradition of Christian thought that accepts that the poor and the rich are always with us, but the rich should help the poor without upsetting the social order. Calling it left-wing is like calling a charitable donation by a billionaire "left-wing". | |
