Jun 30 at 8:15 comment added Mozibur Ullah @F1Krazy: It's a pedantic point since the current conflict dates from around the Balfour Declaration and at that point, Israel was a de facto colony of Britain. In fact, it was handled by the Colonial Office.
Jun 30 at 7:42 comment added F1Krazy I disagree. You're claiming that one of the reasons the Israel-Palestine conflict is prominent is because Israel is a colony, but it isn't a colony, therefore that reason is false. Maybe it's "pedantic" in the sense that you've provided four reasons and I've only disproved one of them, but the fact remains that your answer is claiming something that isn't true.

Jun 13 at 8:33 comment added F1Krazy Israel isn't a colony. It was a British colony in 1920, in the form of Mandatory Palestine, but when it was partitioned by the UN and declared its independence on 14 May 1948 it ceased to be a colony and became an independent, self-governing nation. By your logic, every former British colony is still a colony, no matter how long ago it gained its independence.
Jun 13 at 6:04 comment added Allure If it's a colony, then there must be a colonizing country. The "West" is not a country, so it's hard to see how it can be a colonizing country. Furthermore, colonizers would retain some links to the colonizing country, but Israelis seem to identify with Israel.
Jun 13 at 6:01 comment added Mozibur Ullah @Allure: point 4 was not there when it was downvoted. Can you explain why it is "contentious" because I don't see it.
Jun 13 at 5:54 comment added Allure Not my downvote, but point 4 seems highly contentious.
