Politic activists in "Young Turks" like Ziya Gokalp supported Turkism, Islamism and Modernism . According to that Turkic tribes converted Islam, became aware of common nationality which is Turkish and we belong to western civilization.

"And Gökalp's work was particularly influential in shaping the reforms of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk" . Ataturk is the founder of modern Turkey.

Which can be seen in Ataturk's quotes like There are different cultures, but only one civilization, the European one

What they were meaning with word civilization, did they aim for western technology, science , culture, human rights?

Depending on answer I want to ask if belonging to western civilization partly succeeded (this might be another question) or if it is failed?
