I read somewhere that the ultimate perfection in propaganda is to make people believe without knowing how it got into their heads.

Have you seen this quote anywhere?

I don't remember where I heard this, but I now firmly believe that it is true. – Philipp Jan 8 '16 at 9:10

Baudelaire once wrote: "The devil's finest trick is to persuade you that he does not exist." This is not exactly the quote you are looking for, but it goes in the same sense. – Bernard Masse Jan 9 '16 at 0:05
  • There can be numerous answers to this question. For instance, Aldous Huxley: "The greatest triumphs of propaganda have been accomplished, not by doing something, but by refraining from doing. Great is truth, but still greater, from a practical point of view, is silence about truth." – bytebuster for Long Usernames Jan 13 '16 at 10:11
