In the single transferable voting system, every voter votes for one candidate. Based on that, the threshold for winning is determined. Candidates with more votes than the threshold are elected. While more candidates than seats remain, the candidate with the least votes are eliminated until all remaining candidates can be allocated a seat and thus elected.
