Where do I send a nomination for the Presidential Medal of Freedom?
"Shouldn't" depends on the characters concerned. Traditionally, there was a lot of respect across parties, despite disagreements. Recently, not so much.

This probably works better if your local congressman and the president don't both think the other party is the spawn of Satan.

Has Russia recognized land currently held by Ukraine as sovereign territory of the LPR/DPR?
Carefully worded to leave the Ukrainian armed forces, in Ukraine, appearing to be the invaders.

Why doesn't democracy show its strengths in large developing countries like BRICS?
A country can be both democratic and have a poor human rights record : treatment of Muslim communities in India would be a case at the moment.

EU ETS: if within-EU flight emissions are limited to climate goals, does a person choosing to fly add to emissions?
There are obvious other reasons if railways can offer more comfort, better food, more local stations, less annoying security etc.

Why do US politicians use the title "czar?"
In English through most of the 20thC, Czar would be more acceptable than Kaiser (despite being the same word), because the Kaiser was the enemy in one unfortunate episode, but the Czar was just some poor tyrant who ran into a bit of trouble with the Bolsheviks. Likewise there were no German Shepherd dogs when I was young, but lots of Alsatians.

What do those Iranians who say "Death to America!" mean by it?
Indeed you might argue that "To Hell with (X)" is far more severe (or offensive) than simply "Death to (X)" and yet it has common currency in Western culture.

What are the common features of pro-union and anti-union laws?
@Obie, yes (minimum wage can drive down wages), and no, per note 1, the need for a minimum wage arises when the unions have already lost power.

What are the common features of pro-union and anti-union laws?
@JoeW I think the argument is, in Denmark, a minimum wage would lead to lowering some wages because it would become legal to pay the minimum. Possibly not an argument that would occur to someone used to America.

What are the differences among ISIS, Al-Qaeda and the Taliban?
I think Al Qaeda, in the form of AQAP in Yemen, do pursue territorial control; I'm not sure if they persecute civilians to that end or if their actions rank as "military ops".

@llama good point, but they would need to be somewhere with more oil for that...

What is the rationale of Lithuania allowing a diplomatic mission under the name of Taiwan, thus deteriorating the diplomatic relation with China?
@Readin Currently : not a lot. Historically : gave Lithuania some experience of involuntary rule imposed from outside, and perhaps some sympathy for a country facing a similar situation.

Lithuania and Taiwan have something pretty obvious in common ... a powerful neighbour with a tendency to want to annex them...

What are the differences between lobbying and bribery in the US?
You can hide the campaign fund payment via PACs that do not require the disclosure of donors.

Why hasn't North Korea adopted a market economy?
This would be more plausible if his luxurious lifestyle and personal well being weren't quite so dramatically opposed.

Why did the U.S. government lower the funding of the IRS?
@Dai I'd argue it's both. Ideologically they support the proposition that government doesn't work; this policy helps ensure it doesn't.

Why has 20 years of US occupation not removed the Taliban in Afghanistan?
Best illustrated in the historically accurate documentary, "Carry On Up the Khyber".

How many current US senators are NOT from political families?
Dynasty implies more than one generation, a hereditary democracy if you like...
